Later revisions (particularly the model 2 and model 3) have noticeably worse audio.
Only mono audio is available at the DIN jack for model 1 and model 3. For stereo audio, you will need to use the headphone jack on the front or install one of the mods below.
Mods
Triple Bypass combines the RGB bypass and Mega Amp audio bypass circuits into one board for clean video and audio.
RGB bypass provides clean signal with no jailbars for all models. Also included in the Triple Bypass mod.
S-video kit provides s-video (and composite video and mono audio if desired) output for all models. Also available in a smaller surface-mount kit without composite video or audio.
Lifting pin 6 (subcarrier pin) of the CXA1145 chip can reduce jailbars, but also disables composite and s-video output.
Stereo audio mod pulls audio directly from the chip for cleaner results than using the headphone jack. Made someone unnecessary by the Triple Bypass and Mega Amp mods.
Mega Amp bypasses the onboard audio processing for clean audio from all models.
